Jean Purdy Calibration Lab

JEAN PURDY

Jean Purdy was a British nurse, embryologist and pioneer of fertility treatment. She was responsible with Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe for developing In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF); Louise Joy Brown, the first "test-tube baby", was born on 25 July 1978, and Purdy was the first to see the embryonic cells dividing. In respect and honour of Jean Purdy being the first female pioneer in the IVF industry, Nationwide has dedicated our Calibration Lab in her name.

JEAN PURDY CALIBRATION LAB

The Jean Purdy Calibration Lab is a controlled environment dedicated to the calibration of measuring instruments and equipment in Corona, CA. The primary purpose of this calibration lab is to maintain the traceability of measurements to national or international standards, such as those maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the US or similar bodies globally. This ensures that a measurement taken anywhere in the world using calibrated equipment is consistent and comparable.

The Jean Purdy calibration lab is equipped with high-precision measurement and environmental control systems to ensure measurements are performed under stable conditions. We built this lab from the ground up, designed for one purpose: to accurately measure temperature, gas concentrations, humidity and more. We aim to be the standard for IVF environmental conditions. All test equipment is NIST traceable, all gas readings are traceable to include certificates of conformity, temperature is maintained in a calibrated dry well, calibrated surface, liquid and ambient temperature methods to real world accuracy. We employ various gas mixtures and concentrations to mimic IVF lab specific test points.

Calibration is crucial for:

● Quality Assurance: Ensuring products and services meet specified requirements.
Compliance: Meeting regulatory standards and industry mandates (e.g. CAP, JCAHO, ISO/IEC 17025).
Operational Reliability: Preventing costly errors, malfunctions, and product failures
Standard Calibration: Comparing the instrument to a reference standard and documenting the error.
Adjustment/Repair: Correcting instruments that are found to be out of tolerance.
Certification: Providing calibration certificates detailing the results, the measurement, and traceability information.
● Equipment Management: Offering services like instrument recall reminders and asset tracking.

NILOCHECKER

Nationwide is a licensed distributor and designated USA calibration house for Nilotech which operates out of Denmark. With the Nilochecker you can control and calibrate incubators, laminar flow workstations, warming system etc. Perform up to 5 simultaneous measurements. For instance, check an incubator for CO2/O2 and temperature at the same time. Contact us to inquire for further information.
